The municipality of Matosinhos has six beaches where swimming is discouraged because of microbiological contamination, the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) said.

On its official website, the APA says that swimming was discouraged on 26 August on four beaches, after being discouraged on 25 August on two others.
The beaches in question are Agudela, Cabo do Mundo, Matosinhos, Marreco, Memória and Quebrada.
On 11 August, swimming was also discouraged at Matosinhos beach due to microbiological contamination, and the situation was resolved two days later.
