The shortest option is from Quatro Águas, just outside Tavira. A return ticket costs €2 for adults, and during August, ferries run regularly throughout the day. The crossing is very short, but you still get to enjoy beautiful views over the Ria Formosa on the way to the island.
You can also catch the ferry directly from the centre of Tavira. This option costs a little more, at €2.70 return for adults, but it's really convenient if you're already exploring the town and don't want to drive to Quatro Águas.

For something quicker and more flexible, water taxis are also available, although they are more expensive than the regular ferry. Prices vary depending on the operator and departure point, but expect to pay around €20 one way for a private boat.
Once you arrive on Tavira Island, it's only a short walk past the restaurants and cafés before you reach the long sandy beach.
