Established around 50 years ago, the charity supports logistics education, medicine, climate projects, humanitarian logistics and culture. It already operates 20 subsidiary organisations, employs around 800 people and has a 2026 budget of €144.6 million.

The assets transferred to the Kühne Foundation could generate around CHF1 billion annually in dividend income, potentially significantly increasing its financial resources. Its existing budget allocates around 42 percent to logistics education, 20 percent to medicine, 15 percent to climate projects, 11 percent to humanitarian logistics and seven percent to culture. The foundation now ranks among the world’s ten wealthiest charitable foundations.
