AI-assisted recordings will remain eligible when they are substantially human-made. ARIA chief executive Annabelle Herd said the distinction provides clear rules while allowing artists room to continue using AI creatively.

The rules allow ARIA to remove ineligible recordings from charts, change chart positions and withdraw accreditations, while artists can challenge exclusions. The changes form part of a wider initiative by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Its principles allow substantially human-made, AI-assisted recordings using lawful services, while seeking to prevent artificial manipulation of streams.
