Tung said new technology is placing pressure on people’s private lives and privacy, prompting plans to regulate smart glasses and similar devices more strictly.

The move comes amid wider scrutiny of smart glasses internationally. A criminal complaint has been filed in Germany against Meta and Ray-Ban, which developed the eyewear, while a UK petition is calling for the devices to be banned. Norway could become the first country to introduce a crackdown, putting greater safeguards around emerging wearable technology and its recording capabilities.
