On Saturday, 12 September, the queue stretched beyond the usual barriers and backed up behind the entrance gates, with four separate lines operating.

Despite looking fairly alarming, the queue moved steadily and it took around 30 minutes to reach the security checkpoint.

However, when combined with possible congestion at passport control for passengers travelling outside the Schengen Area, it is worth arriving prepared and leaving yourself some breathing room.

One insider tip: when all four lines are open, try the bottom two, furthest inside the terminal. They feed into the security checkpoint sooner and can potentially offer a shorter wait. Of course, queues can change quickly, but choosing the right line may save you a little time.
