The collection focuses on Operation Felix, revealing how German forces studied the territory and prepared for an attack. The accessible records include intelligence reports, maps, photographs, artillery plans, operational orders and detailed logistical documents.
The plans show that around 47,500 personnel were expected to move through Spain towards Gibraltar, supported by thousands of vehicles and roughly 800 aircraft.
Operation Felix was ultimately never launched, leaving the extensive preparations as historical records. The translations now provide historians, researchers and students with new access to detailed material about Gibraltar’s strategic importance during the war.
