The new route officially started on 23 October and offers three flights per week, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For anyone planning a city break in Prague, famous for its historic streets, beautiful architecture and Christmas markets, the new connection provides another option for travelling directly from the Portuguese capital.

The flights use Boeing 737 aircraft with a capacity of 189 passengers. The journey from Prague to Lisbon takes approximately three hours and 40 minutes, while the return flight takes around three hours and 25 minutes.

One-way tickets start at €120, with the fare including hand luggage weighing up to 8kg.

The airline reported strong interest in the new route, with the first flight from Prague to Lisbon fully booked.

Lisbon is now the fourth Portuguese destination served by Smartwings, joining Porto, Funchal in Madeira and Ponta Delgada in the Azores.

The airline already operates direct flights between Porto and Prague, with three weekly connections on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Funchal also has up to seven weekly flights, while the seasonal connection between Ponta Delgada and Prague is expected to return in May 2027.

The new Lisbon route is part of the airline’s wider expansion of its European network, offering more travel possibilities for both tourists and business passengers.

For Portuguese travellers, Prague is particularly attractive during the colder months. Its Old Town Square, Charles Bridge and Prague Castle are among the city’s most famous attractions, while its traditional Christmas markets make it a popular destination in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

But the connection also works in the opposite direction. For Czech travellers, Lisbon offers a completely different experience, from its historic neighbourhoods and traditional trams to its viewpoints overlooking the Tagus River. Portugal’s generally milder winter weather may also appeal to visitors looking to escape colder temperatures in Central Europe.

Smartwings CEO Emre Pekesen welcomed the interest in the new connection, highlighting Portugal’s appeal as a travel destination and the airline’s plans to continue expanding its scheduled services.

The airline is also increasing its flights between Prague and Porto as part of its winter 2026/2027 schedule.

During this winter season, Smartwings plans to offer direct connections from Czech airports to 39 destinations.

With Prague and Lisbon now connected by another airline, travellers have more choice when planning a short European getaway, visiting family and friends or travelling between the two countries for work.
