Sessions cover skills such as email, social media, internet safety, Google Translate and AI use. The initiative has reached about 59,000 participants nationally. Research suggests that digital engagement in older adults can correlate with a lower risk of cognitive impairment.

Netrevalók was launched in 2019 by Magyar Telekom and partnered with Budapest’s Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library in 2023, operating in 25 library branches. Hungary’s population aged 65+ has grown from 15.6 percent in 2005 to 20.9 percent today, and 90 percent of those over 80 do not use the internet. Beyond digital skills, the programme fosters intergenerational connections, reducing loneliness and offering cultural exchange.
