The Martin Family Legacy Garden in Calgary has been designed with researchers, healthcare professionals and families, featuring sensory gardens, colour-coded pathways, shaded seating and clear signage to support people living with dementia. The park also includes a playground to encourage visits by multi-generational families.

Located within Southview Park in Dover, the garden was chosen for its proximity to seniors’ residences and public transport. Organisers say approximately 20,000 people in Calgary live with dementia, while Alberta is expected to see a sharp rise in diagnoses by 2050.
