Taylor's Port is proud to unveil its new bottle that will be progressively introduced across the range from July 2026, representing the most significant evolution in the company’s marketing presentation in decades.
Developed over almost two years, the new bottle reflects Taylor's enduring commitment to craftsmanship, quality and continuous improvement. Bringing together expertise from across the company and a number of long-standing packaging partners, the project had a clear ambition: to preserve one of the Port category's most iconic bottle designs while significantly reducing its environmental impact.
Rather than redesigning an icon, Taylor's chose to refine it.
The new bottle retains the distinctive silhouette and embossed coat of arms that have defined the brand for generations, while introducing subtle refinements that reinforce its premium character and improve its environmental performance.
"Taylor's has always believed that true progress comes through thoughtful evolution rather than change for its own sake," said Adrian Bridge, Managing Director of Taylor's. “The new bottle respects our heritage while looking confidently to the future. It demonstrates that meaningful environmental improvements can be achieved without compromising the quality, elegance and identity that have defined Taylor's for more than three centuries."
At the heart of the project is a newly developed proprietary bottle weighing 440 grams, compared with 580 grams previously – a reduction of approximately 24% – achieved without compromising strength, bottling performance or the premium appearance expected of one of the world's leading Port wine houses.
Across Taylor's annual production of approximately 2.5 million bottles, this reduction will save around 350 tonnes of glass each year and is expected to avoid approximately 210 tonnes of CO₂ emissions during bottle manufacture, while also improving transport efficiency throughout the global supply chain.
The new bottle forms part of a wider programme to review every element of Taylor's packaging, from responsibly sourced paper labels and increased recyclability to the introduction of RE:WOOD® bartop closures and the ongoing reduction of virgin plastic across the range.
This latest milestone also reflects Taylor's broader environmental philosophy. As the founder of the Porto Protocol, the international movement launched in 2018 to unite the wine industry in tackling climate change, Taylor's has long championed practical, measurable actions that help protect the future of wine. The new bottle is another example of this philosophy in action, demonstrating that even small improvements, when implemented at scale, can make a meaningful difference.
Although the presentation has evolved, what lies inside the bottle remains exactly the same. Consumers will continue to enjoy the same wines, crafted with the same uncompromising standards of quality and authenticity that have made Taylor's one of the world's most respected Port houses since 1692.
The new bottle will be introduced progressively across Taylor's portfolio as existing stocks are replaced in markets around the world.
The project was developed in close collaboration with a group of leading Portuguese partners. The bottle redesign and labelling were done by the creative agency, Pacifica, while the new glass bottle was developed by Vidrala. Label production was handled by Etiquel, and the new cork was developed by Amorim Cork Solutions, bringing together the specialized knowledge of some of the most recognized companies in the Portuguese industry.
