The company's domestic network now includes Loulé, in the Algarve, and Castro Verde, in the Alentejo, with a new route connecting the two towns to Faro, including its airport, Albufeira, Beja, Setúbal and Lisbon. The new route already offers four daily departures.

With these two additions, FlixBus has added 13 new cities to its Portuguese network since the beginning of 2026, strengthening its presence beyond major urban centres.

According to Tiago Cavaco Alves, FlixBus Operations Director in Portugal, “The integration of Loulé and Castro Verde into the FlixBus network reinforces our commitment to bringing the country closer together and expanding mobility services to all regions, particularly areas with low population density.

“This new connection also helps strengthen links between the Alentejo and the Algarve, with Loulé joining the more than 15 Algarve destinations already served by FlixBus, with connections to the national network and several destinations in southern Spain.

“In this way, we are responding to significant demand and facilitating access to major urban centres in the south and Faro Airport, while also helping to reduce reliance on private transport.”

The new FlixBus routes stop at the respective bus terminals. In Loulé, the stop is located on Rua de Nossa Senhora de Fátima, while in Castro Verde, it is on Rua da Seara Nova. Tickets are already available through the app, website and official sales outlets.

More connections to and from Évora

Évora is gaining direct daytime connections to Santarém, Coimbra and Porto.

In addition to introducing new routes, FlixBus will increase services to and from Évora, with daytime connections to Santarém, Coimbra and Porto. Passengers will also be able to travel from Évora to Ovar, a new FlixBus destination further north.

There will be two daily departures, one in each direction, placing Évora “less than two hours from Santarém and three and a half hours from Coimbra”.

FlixBus wins dispute with Rede Expressos

As FlixBus continues to expand its routes, the company has also prevailed over Rede Expressos in a dispute concerning services at the Sete Rios bus terminal in Lisbon.

On 29 September, FlixBus began operating 23 daily services from Sete Rios, a terminal previously served exclusively by Rede Expressos, as reported by The Portugal News.
