On X, the Portugal team wrote: “From 2008 to eternity. The all-time Ballon d’Or is Portuguese. Congratulations, Captain!” The public voted for Ronaldo from among 10 players.
De 2008 para a eternidade. A Bola de Ouro de todos os tempos é portuguesa. 🇵🇹 Parabéns, Capitão! 👑 @ballondor | @Cristiano https://t.co/GVXvrTFL3x

On his social media, Cristiano Ronaldo also thanked his fans for voting for him.
The compliments from the team come at a time when the situation between Ronaldo and the Portugal squad has been quite tense. After being substituted in the opening Nations League match against Wales and left an unused substitute against Norway, the player left the team camp after a dispute with the team’s coach, Jorge Jesus.
Punishment to Ronaldo
Without much clarity on a possible punishment for his attitude, the Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Council found him guilty on 19 October of leaving the field without authorisation. As a result, he faced a 30-day suspension from the national team and was ordered to pay a €225 fine.
Retirement plans
Ronaldo insists that he is not planning to retire from the national team, saying that he is available to return after his suspension, as already reported by The Portugal News.
The coach, Jorge Jesus, also mentions that the doors will always be open to Cristiano Ronaldo, letting the player decide whether he wants to come back or not.
