Pastelaria Aloma, which is in several locations in Lisbon, has won the title of Best Pastel de Nata in Lisbon 2025, repeating last year's victory and bringing its total to five awards in the competition.
Pãozinho das Marias and Confeitaria Glória, in second and third place, completed the podium.
"This is a testament to the quality of our pastel de nata in 16 years of competition. This is the fifth time we've won, and it's a source of pride. The secret? It's doing good, repeatedly, and with quality products," said João Castanheira, owner of Aloma Pastry Shop, quoted in a statement sent to newsrooms.
This year's panel of judges was chaired by gastronomist Virgílio Gomes and also included Davide Cunha (Pasteleira Mapa - L'and Vineyards), Isabel Zibaia Rafael (Author and Blogger), Paulo Amado (Director - Edições do Gosto), Lara Figueiredo (Pasteleira MACAM), and Joana Barrios (Host - 24 Kitchen and Author). They tasted the pastries blind, unaware of the establishment they came from, ensuring a completely impartial evaluation.
According to the head of the panel, the panel's evaluations are based on characteristics such as "Appearance," "Dough Texture," "Dough Flavour and Consistency," "Filling," and "Overall Flavour."
The grand finale, open to the public, was attended by the 12 finalist establishments: Café Ponte da Várzea (Sintra), Casa do Padeiro (Queluz), Confeitaria da Glória (Amadora), Diamantino e Alberto (Lisbon), O Pãozinho das Marias (Ericeira), Padaria da Né (Damaia), Panicoelho, Bakery and Cafeteria (Rio de Mouro), Pastelaria Aloma (Lisbon), Pastelaria Batalha (Lisbon), Pastelaria Patyanne (Castanheira do Ribatejo), Pastelaria Santo António Castelo (Lisbon), and Pastelaria Taigui (Lisbon).
The Best Pastel de Nata was launched in 2009 and is organised by Edições do Gosto and Virgílio Gomes.
