Researchers estimate boreholes at a mine near Timmins, Ontario, could produce more than 140 metric tonnes of hydrogen annually, enough to meet the yearly electricity needs of more than 400 homes. They say naturally occurring hydrogen is found alongside rocks already mined for minerals, meaning existing mining infrastructure could support future development if commercial extraction proves viable.
