Most holidaymakers may have returned home, summer breaks have finished, and schools have already started or are about to start, but here in the Algarve, the summer feeling is still very much alive.

September has arrived with plenty of sunshine and beautiful beach weather, and anyone who can still enjoy a day by the sea at this time of year is really lucky.

In fact, the beginning of September has been exceptionally warm across Portugal. IPMA reported that 3 September was the fourth hottest September day recorded in mainland Portugal since 1941, with the average temperature across the country reaching 27.61°C.

Temperatures in the Algarve are expected to remain in the high 20s over the coming days, even reaching around 30°C in some areas this weekend.

September is actually one of my favourite times to enjoy the Algarve. Temperatures are expected to remain around the high 20s over the coming days, even reaching around 30°C in some areas this weekend. The busiest weeks of summer are behind us; the beaches start to feel a little calmer, but the sunshine and warm days remain.

So, if you are lucky enough to still be in the Algarve, don't put away your beach bag just yet. Summer is still going strong.
