The Wealth & Migration Summit from Global Citizen Solutions on 5–6 November at the EPIC SANA Marquês Hotel in Lisbon seeks to answer international families’ most pressing questions, from education to banking, to help them prepare and make a strong plan for the future.

Moving abroad is often framed as a single decision. In reality, it touches every part of family life. Whether it is a move to improve lifestyle quality, for better education, or to secure a long and healthy future, there are an array of considerations facing international families.

A country’s residency options, banking and tax structure, and safety levels are key elements that international families look to when choosing a country to relocate to. These themes are a key focus of the Wealth & Migration Summit, hosted at the EPIC SANA Marquês Hotel in Lisbon on 5–6 November.

The Summit moves from the policies of nations to the priorities for households, asking the questions that truly matter.

Wealth management

Sessions at the Wealth & Migration Summit include the diversification of assets and wealth management for global citizens, looking to private banks at how international families structure their wealth.

Francisca van Dijken, EMEA Head of Global Client Solutions at Citigroup Private Bank, works with families whose assets, residences and responsibilities span several countries. Her perspective is particularly relevant to anyone who has discovered, after moving, that banking across borders is rarely as simple as opening an account. She is joined on the speaker list by senior figures from Julius Baer and EFG.

A further session, “Building a Global Plan B, C and D”, addresses contingency planning for global families: having options in place before they are needed. Planning for the future has never been so important, and these sessions break down what that means in practice.

Planning for a longer life

Health is an increasingly important consideration for families seeking to relocate overseas. Two sessions ask whether families are really ready for a 100-year life and explore the idea that longevity has become the new luxury. Countries that offer a high quality of life are seen as highly desirable as families plan their next move.

Dr Nina Patrick is a Longevity Researcher, Science Communicator, and Entrepreneur who will be joining the Summit. Her work bridges research and everyday decisions, which makes her well suited to explain what living longer means for financial planning, healthcare choices, and where people decide to spend their years.

Growing up global

For many families, the most important questions concern their children. Education is pivotal in shaping children’s early years and how they see the world. A session titled “Growing Up Global” looks at education, belonging, and raising children across borders.

Diane Bidna is the University and Career Counsellor at TASIS Portugal, an international school in Sintra. She advises young people whose education may span several countries and curricula, and whose university choices may be just as international. Her insights give a practical take on the challenges and benefits of education opportunities overseas, an important topic for families with children of any age seeking to provide them with the best start to life.

Who is the Wealth & Migration Summit for?

The Wealth & Migration Summit is set to be the biggest international mobility event of the year. The event is aimed at individuals and families exploring international residency, a second citizenship or how to manage wealth across borders. Organisers note that attendees do not need to be planning a move to find the discussions relevant.

Attendance is limited to 200. This allows attendees to get the most out of the event, including having time to talk with the speakers over coffee or over the networking lunches. Country workshops go deep on each destination, and every session is in English.

The second day closes with a guided Portuguese wine experience, followed by a cocktail reception overlooking the city.

Renowned international journalist and broadcaster, Hadley Gamble, will host the Summit, guiding the two days of conversation with some of the most influential voices in investment migration.

CNN Portugal is the media partner, and executives from Optimize Investment Partners and Banco Atlântico Europa will be attending.

Join the Summit.

On 5th and 6th November, at the EPIC SANA Marquês Hotel in Lisbon. Registration closes on 4 November.
