This upcycling initiative aimed to give professional clothing otherwise destined for traditional recycling a useful purpose, converting textile waste into comfort items for animals.

A significant portion of the finished items was distributed directly to theme park employees who signed up to receive them for their own pets.

The remaining stock will be fully allocated to social responsibility efforts through a donation to the São Francisco Xavier Kennel; the institution will receive six to seven large beds, 28 small beds, and 21 blankets to support the well-being of the animals in its care.

The development and production of these items resulted from a strategic partnership with United to Remake, a Portuguese social innovation startup specialising in material reuse and the transformation of corporate waste through sustainable design. Hugo Brites, Zoomarine Algarve’s Communications and Marketing Director, highlighted that this initiative reflects the company's commitment to upholding its values beyond the park.

He explained that the staff's old uniforms, which would otherwise have been sent for recycling, have found a new purpose: they have been transformed into beds and blankets that will contribute to the comfort and well-being of numerous animals. He added that, while simple, the initiative holds special significance for the organisation, as it engages employees and supports a cause closely aligned with the park's bond with the animal world.
