The newspaper, which cites unidentified sources, Trump considers Infantino, 56, to be an internationally respected figure with the ability to unite different sectors, an assessment that results in part from the close relationship developed between them during the organisation of the 2026 World Cup.
The successor to Portuguese António Guterres, whose term ends in December, will be chosen this year. The nomination first requires a recommendation from the UN Security Council, where the US has veto power, before being confirmed by the General Assembly.
During his two terms, Trump maintained a tense relationship with the UN, questioning the role of multilateral organisations and withdrawing the US from the Paris Agreement on climate, the World Health Organisation, and the Human Rights Council.
The connection between Trump and Infantino intensified during the 2026 World Cup, hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada, with several joint appearances at tournament-related events.
In December, the US president received the first FIFA Peace Prize, awarded by the organisation headed by the Swiss leader.

Because the UN isn't corrupt enough.. LOL
You got Muslim and African countries leading the boards of womens' and human rights for Petes' sake! It's a worthless clown show. It has never achieved anything notable, never stopped a war, never done anything actually important. All they do is sit around, talk shite, and go to free lunches with copius booze and drugs.

Yes FIFA is led by a very corrupt man. It is understandable that he is buddies with tRump, the leader of the corrupt world. As for the UN, they have no way to enforce as countries on the Security Council refuse to be members of the ICC, the world court. This is because their leaders have all committed war crimes and crimes against humanity. If and when the UUSA has a truly righteous leader, one that agrees to join the world court, and require all UN members to do so, especially Israel, than many former and present leaders, like Natanyahu, Putin and every UUSA president since Eisenhower, will be tried for their many war crimes and, if convicted, thrown in jail (those still living). Then the UN will actually be able to function as a peace-keeping organization.

I would recommend caution when using the New York Post as a source. I avoid clicking on their articles. Here is what Wikipedia says with a reference: "The Post has been criticized since the beginning of Murdoch's ownership for sensationalism, blatant advocacy, and conservative bias." The New York Post has a reputation as a sensationalist, right-leaning tabloid. Widely rated by media monitors as having a "Right" bias, it prioritizes eye-catching headlines, opinion-driven columnists, and celebrity gossip. Just saying...

The New York Post is owned by the same propagandists that own Fox News. Not a reliable source. Also, the two most corrupt men on the planet do not deserve positions of power, be it the United States and the UN. Ridiculous to even entertain the idea.
