Inclusion in this platform aims to strengthen the strategy of internationalising the country’s interior regions and to capture the Mexican luxury tourism segment, which focuses on exclusive, personalised, and high-value-added experiences.
The invitation to join the project came from the Fundación Monumental México following contacts initiated at FITUR 2026 in Madrid and solidified by a technical visit to the region in April by the project promoters and their media partner, the Mundo Ejecutivo group.
Under the project’s operational model, the Historical Villages of Portugal Tourism Development Association acts as the Destination Management Organisation (DMO), coordinating offerings between public and private stakeholders. At the same time, the marketing of packages is handled by three Destination Management Companies (DMCs)—one for each participating country.
Dalila Dias, the association’s executive coordinator, highlighted the partnership’s importance in connecting the region with a discerning buyer demographic and creating new opportunities for local operators and communities. Following this official mission, a visit to Portugal is already scheduled for early October, bringing together Mexican tour operators, investors, and institutional representatives; the initiative will culminate in the signing of cooperation agreements among the three countries for joint actions regarding promotion, tourism, culture, and investment.
