In a post on X, he stresses that Portugal and Brazil are 'sister nations' with a shared history, a common language which enhances their standing in the world and very real human links which are only going to grow stronger.

Emphasising their status as key economic partners, the PM also pointed to shared positions on a number of international issues with a clear preference for peace and dialogue. Luís Montenegro closed by reiterating his intention to further deepen the partnership and to promote prosperity and development for both countries.
The results have been released by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) with 99.99% of the votes counted. Lula is declared the winner with 52% of the vote. Bolsonaro (the far right) has 48% and has announced his intention to have the election annulled. 128.2 million voted, 30.5 million didn't.

Another silly move by a supposedly "pro-democracy" politician. Lula is a Marxist who has already pledged to curtail speech in Brazil that he doesn't approve of. I wonder what is so different between Lula's ambition to be the sole arbiter of approved speech and Portugal's former dictator, Antonio Salazar. It appears that suppression of speech by a "fascist" is terrible but suppression of speech by a socialist is somehow beneficent. What really needs to be overthrown is this blatant hypocrisy that has infested itself throughout the EU repressive apparatus.
