In a statement sent to Lusa, the PSP indicated that the incident involved passengers arriving in Portugal from Salvador, Brazil, who were directed to a departure gate. This caused “a mixing of passengers arriving from a third country, who had not undergone screening in accordance with applicable European Union requirements, with passengers who had already been screened and were located within the critical area of the restricted security zone.”
As the area in Terminal 1 had been compromised, an evacuation was ordered, and all passengers had to undergo screening again, including those already on board aircraft who had passed through the boarding bridges connected to the affected area.
“The border area remained temporarily closed until the evacuation, security check, and cleaning of the compromised area were completed; operations resumed once security conditions were fully restored,” the PSP added.

Lately, what is being Held in the Lisbon Airport is becoming the laughing stock of the country's Image. People around the world have started seeing the Portugal as one of the worstly managed administration, where blames are shifted and pointed to others rather that fixing the Problem.

True, the EES has had its problems, and I am sure they are not over yet. This issue is not restricted to Portugal, but to all of Europe, to various degree. But contrary to what Sanjya seems to pronounce, Portuguese are not stupid people. i would estimate that these EES issues are the result of a lousy system, deployed before it was properly tested and ready, a common approach by governments who are more focus on delivering on time, never mind the readiness of the tool. I do note that things are getting better, gradually. For instance, our daughter arrived in Lisbon from Canada on Saturday 26 July. I had briefed her thoroughly on what to expect and had agreed on a plan on how to go about picking her up with minimal pain. Well, she was through the procedure in less than 15 minutes. it is always easier to complain than try to assess and understand, at least it is more fun !!!
