In a statement, the ministry specifies that this total includes "16,162 laptops, 5,856 desktop computers and 2,530 monitors," representing an investment of €17 million, 100% financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Thirteen bodies and services in the area of ​​Justice are covered, including the courts, the Centre for Judicial Studies, the Judicial Police, the Prison Services, the Registries and the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.

In addition, the Directorate-General for the Administration of Justice also acquired 9,204 monitors for magistrates, prosecutors and court officials, in an investment of €1.9 million, the statement says.

According to the ministry, “the acquisition is the result of a centralised procedure” launched by the Institute for Financial Management and Equipment of Justice (IGFEJ) in October 2025, “after an exhaustive survey of the needs of the different bodies in the Justice area.”

“The renewal of the computer park allows for the availability of updated hardware and software, strengthens the security of the systems and increases the mobility of professionals,” and “the replacement of some desktop equipment with laptops also creates better working conditions in different locations.”

“This is how you modernise Justice: with planning, with rigour and with concrete investment in the conditions of those who work in it every day,” says the Minister of Justice, Rita Alarcão Júdice, quoted in the statement.
