The sub-regional commander of the Terras de Trás-os-Montes Civil Protection, Noel Afonso, told the Lusa news agency at 7:45 am that the fire in the municipality of Mirandela, Bragança, has a small active front in the village of Vale de Telhas, next to the river, with about 90% of the fire perimeter under control.

In the municipality of Valpaços, Vila Real, he said, there is also a small active fire front and between 70 and 80% of the perimeter is under control.

There are still several fire outbreaks scattered across the two municipalities in the districts of Bragança and Vila Real, but civil protection believes that aerial resources, which will begin operating from 8:30 am, may help in consolidation.

At 7:55 am, there were 793 personnel on site, supported by 261 ground resources.

Meanwhile, National Road 315, which connects Vale de Telhas to Bouça, in the municipality of Mirandela, has reopened to traffic.

The fire started in the early afternoon of 28 July, in the municipality of Valpaços, and more than a day later crossed the Rabaçal River and reached the municipality of Mirandela.
