For the first time since 2020, the Portuguese Open, established 73 years ago, returns to the top division of European golf between May 13 and 16, 2027, at Oitavos Dunes Links Golf, the venue for four editions of the event: 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
After being held at the Royal Óbidos Golf Resort for the last six years and counting towards the Challenge Tour in the last five editions, the 64th edition of the Portuguese Open is part of the secondary circuit of European golf and will take place, starting on 17 September and running until 20 September, at PGA Aroeira 1, in Almada.
“The return of the historic Singapore and Portugal Opens means that 17 prestigious tournaments will be part of our 2027 global calendar, along with other highly popular international tournaments held around the world,” announced Guy Kinnings, CEO of the DP World Tour, when the calendar for the next season was released.
Founded in 1953, the Portugal Open is one of the oldest tournaments in European golf and was part of the inaugural European Tour calendar in 1972. It is currently part of the European second division and will distribute €300,000 in prize money among the 144 players present in Aroeira, including 10 Portuguese golfers.
